When I was asked if our family wanted to check out the Matthews Playhouse It’s A Wonderful Life, I was thrilled, to say the least. The movie is such a holiday staple and I hadn’t seen it as a play before.
We went opening night and the mood was set as soon as we walked into the theater lobby. The holiday décor was so charming! Before the doors opened there was a pre-show elf performance of young ladies dancing and singing. It was the cutest and my daughter loved that!
As we found out way to our seat, I loved how quaint the theater was. There are 360 seats in the theater and each one of them was filled for opening night! When the story began, and the curtains opened my daughter and I were completely in awe of the production, beginning to end.
For those of you that know the story, I must say, this cast did a great job with keeping it moving, singing, infusing humor, while also tugging on the heart strings. George and Mary stole my heart from the beginning of the show while the rest of the cast, young actors included, helped support the story perfectly!
On our way out of the theater, everyone received their own bell to hang on their Christmas tree, a thoughtful gift from Matthews Playhouse. As soon as we got home, my daughter added it to her Christmas tree in her room.
I highly recommend checking out It’s A Wonderful Life at Matthews Playhouse before it leaves theaters. It is running until December 22nd so get your tickets today!
