Just when you thought New Year’s Eve was going to be wasted on you again as a parent of young children – it’s hard enough to stay awake until midnight, much less make plans – Discovery Place Kids has come up with the perfect compromise. Ring in the New Year at noon – woot-woot – and make your children a part of the celebration!
Discovery Place Kids in Huntersville is hosting “New Year’s at Noon” with a balloon drop at 12 p.m. on Dec. 31. The event is for all ages and features other festive activities. It goes from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and that doesn’t include an extra hour of fun for members from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
What a great way to enjoy another holiday through the eyes of your kids, who would otherwise be sound asleep! And for parents, you can get a celebration in without having to worry about getting a babysitter, being on the roads with treacherous drivers, and get to bed early if you feel like it! (After the hustle and bustle of Christmas, who can blame you?) Or celebrate twice – once at “New Year’s at Noon” with your kids and again at midnight with the adults – and make it a full day of fun.
Tickets cost $5 per person for members and $15 per person for non-members. Unlike in previous years, the event is ticketed with a limited capacity, so Discovery Place Kids won’t be jam-packed. The museum is otherwise closed to the public all day on Dec. 31. For more information and to purchase tickets click here.
