Summer is upon us! Longer days, hotter temps and if you’re looking for ways to cool off the family, then check out CSP’s splash-pad roundup! Listed below are a few of our faves. Make sure to add your own to the list, too!
Romare Bearden Park
Although not technically a “splash pad”, my kids love running behind and through the waterfalls. There’s also a little area in eyeshot for the kids to climb rocks, play oversized interactive instruments and also a large open grassy area to bring your own games! Lately King of Pops has been on site to add a little extra “chill” to hot summer days!
Waverly
Take a break from shopping and dining, grab a cone of Häagen-Dazs ice cream and watch the kids play in the terrace and splash pad at Waverly shops. Featuring an open area, the water comes shooting out of the ground for the kids to run through. There’s also great spots nearby to relax and set out a blanket to enjoy some snacks!
Stallings Park Splash Pad
This is one of our fave places to go, as not only is there a great splash pad, but it’s got a playground close by and a large grassy area to bring our own games to play. The splash pad has water that shoots out of the ground and out of large concrete boulders that circle the outside of the pad. Make sure to check out their FB page, as they have delayed their opening to address some mechanical issues; however, it should open any day now!
Blakeney
Although not too big, the kids enjoy running through the unpredictable water as it shoots out of the ground. It’s also close to a newly renovated playground and an open grassy area for the kids to enjoy. Blakeney features some really great shopping and dining, too!
First Ward Park
In the heart of Uptown, this great splash pad also has great climbing equipment nearby and a large grassy area perfect for enjoying a picnic after running through the water. There is plenty of seating around, including fun concrete animal benches, just in case mom and dad want to stay dry!
Fish Fountain on The Green
The trio of tall fish spray water from above while water comes out of the ground to give a full aquatic adventure. Nestled on The Green, it’s a great location for families to enjoy a part of Uptown with the chance to cool off.
Crooked Creek Park
This is one of the best splash pads in the area, in my opinion. More than water shooting out of the ground, there is water being poured out of buckets and water cannons! Furthermore, this park has a great playground and they also feature movies in the park at dusk – make sure to check out their FB page for upcoming flicks.
Smarties, what are some of your favorite splash pads to cool off in around the QC?
