Pick-Your-Own strawberry season at Carrigan Farms is in full swing! Strawberry picking is the perfect family outing and will guarantee fun for all ages, but the window of opportunity is small, so plan your trip now!
Carrigan Farms is about an hour drive from South Charlotte and is totally worth the drive, no matter what part of Charlotte you live in. Smarty tip: We checked in with our friends at Carrigan Farms and they tell us the next two weekends are perfect – after that, you’ll have to wait until next year. So pack up your fams and head up to the farm or you’ll miss out!
We have some fun Smarty Strawberry Picking Tips for you to consider before your trip:
1. Check the weather
2. The availability of pre-picked strawberries changes daily, so call ahead
3. Bring Cash: Carrigan Farms does not accept credit cards
4. Bring a Water Spray Bottle
(to clean strawberries, because, little Smarties have a hard time resisting eating the strawberries:-)
5. Wear sunscreen
6. Wear a hat
7. Dress your little ones in clothes that can get dirty
8. Bring wet naps (this can stay in the car, just have them handy)
9. Bring water
10. Most importantly, HAVE FUN!
The Strawberry Patch at Carrigan Farms:
Fresh strawberries are now available at the strawberry patch. Fresh asparagus is also available at the strawberry patch. $5 per pound, picked fresh daily.

Enjoy our Favorite Smarty Strawberry Recipes:
Cream Cheese Pound Cake (this is the best I’ve ever made!):
3 sticks margarine
(1) 8-oz package cream cheese
3 C sugar
6 eggs, add one at a time and stir
3 C plain flour sifted
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp lemon or almond extract
Mix ingredients. Blend well. Bake in greased bundt pan (butter and flour pan) at 300 for 1 1/2 hours. Serve with fresh NC strawberries and homemade whipped cream.
