January is in full swing and today we’re talking fitness, since most of us jack up our fitness regimens starting January 1. What better place to kickstart your fitness than at our favorite spin studio in town, CycleBar.
Why We {Heart} CycleBar
One of the most important parts of a fitness studio (in our Smarty opinion) is the staff and instructors. CycleBar has, hands down, the friendliest, most welcoming staff and Cyclestars (their instructors) in the QC. We love that they call you by name to encourage you in class; we love the warm atmosphere and community focus; and, we love how good we feel after class (especially after a couple of swipes of those post-workout fresh body wipes in the community room! #smartymust).
Not only is CycleBar super friendly, but they’ve got some serious technology to help you perform your best every single class. Their theatre has incredible lighting, amazing sound that they call ‘cyclebeats’, and state of the art technology that provides riders with real time class stats. Classes are a 45 minute full-body sweat sesh full of energy and positivity. Cyclestars guide you through class to not only be working at YOUR best, but to also be mindful and centered. We absolutely love this “zen” twist on spin! And get this, when all of your workout stats hit your inbox after class, your ride’s playlist is included – how fun is that?!
Trust us. The second you step into the studio, you know you’re in for a treat. They’ve got top of the line amenities including water bottles, towels, fresh fruit, those amazing body wipes, and more every time you walk in the door (shopaholics take note: CycleBar apparel is GORG!). You will feel motivated, a part of “it,” exhausted, and accomplished – both mentally and physically – when you leave.
And, here’s a fun twist: CycleBar’s two Charlotte locations allow you to ride at both studios with one package. That means that you can switch from Midtown to Waverly without buying classes at both. We LOVE this concept!! (Thank you, CycleBar! :-))
Just in time for the New Years Rez push, our Smarty friends at CycleBar are hosting a FIT-ULOUS giveaway for TWO Smarty readers, one at each location – details at bottom of this post. But first, we’re chatting with CycleStar Britt Northcutt, who is absolutely GORGEOUS on the inside and out!
What tips do you have for someone who is starting the New Year’s fitness resolution from ground zero – Day 1?
My advice for someone who is starting from ground zero is to try out different types of workouts to figure out what they like! If you don’t enjoy doing something, you are more likely to stop. Find balance and stay patient. The journey may not be easy, but always worth it!
What is your go-to power snack?
My go to power snack is peanut butter and banana!
Favorite healthy recipe?
My favorite healthy recipe is ground turkey tacos!
Favorite fitness gear?
My favorite fitness gear is anything lululemon!
How does one carry the New Year’s rez beyond January?
I am not a big believer in New Year’s resolutions. Instead, I suggest setting small goals that are attainable in shorter periods of time, with a larger end goal in mind that can be reached long term!

I would love to win for Waverly! Been wanting to try you guys out!! New Years resolutions…mmmm I should probably make some!
Waverly- I prefer to set intentions for the year vs a resolution which help me stay on track
I’d love to win Midtown! I don’t really make New Years resolutions because I don’t want to set myself up for failure. I agree with making smaller goals and trying to achieve those.
I’d love to win a month at CycleBar Waverly! I’ve never been someone who has created New Years Resolutions. As a family, we create individual SMART goals and then create family goals. All of our goals are posted in our rooms. Our children (ages 10 and 13) have their individual goals posted on their closet doors. Throughout the year, we will check off goals and date them when they’ve been accomplished.
Waverly…i stopped doing New Years resolutions…they’re we’re never realistic😳
Midtown Cylce! Hate resolutions!!!
Midtown! I have never been one to make resolutions.
I would love to win for Waverly! I started CycleBar there in October and am hooked. Down 10#s (YES!), but really enjoying taking time for myself, the instructors and the music. Amazing how great you can feel after a good sweat. I stopped resolutions years ago- who needs one more thing to worry about?
Would love to win cycle bar midtown. Just what I need to get my rear in gear. Fingers crossed I win!!!
Would love to win Waverly! And, I don’t make new years resolutions – just try to always improve myself! 🙂
Cyclebar Waverly! I prefer to set goals for the year instead of making resolutions.
CycleBar Waverly! I like to organize my thoughts at the beginning of the year with a list of my intentions for the year, but it’s never drastic changes—I don’t call them New Year’s resolutions.
Love love love Cycle Bar and CSP!!! 💗💚
Waverly for me! I’ve always wanted to try a cycle class, but never made the time for myself. Probably explains why I don’t do resolutions.
