Charlotte’s most unique holiday treat is back! Our Smarty favorite aerial arts & dance company, Caroline Calouche & Co., is preparing for their popular production, Clara’s Trip: A Cirque & Dance Nutcracker Story on December 7-9! Get your tickets today!
You’ll recognize a few Charlotte landmarks in the newly designed backdrops featuring Freedom Park in the snow! Calouche’s story begins with Clara, a beautiful, single and clumsy young lady, who falls in love with Beau at Mr. and Mrs. Flowers’ holiday party. As she whirls like a dervish, she trips over her two left feet and sprains her ankle. Beau whisks her off to the hospital where she receives a medical boot. Back at home her friends give her get well gifts that come to life in her dreams that night.
Company dancers Sarah Ritchy and Javier Gonzalez will perform the lead roles of Clara and Beau. Caroline Calouche with guest dancer Alan Malpass performs the Mr. and Mrs. Flowers roles. The incredible snow scene with 3 white aerial silks and twirling athletic contemporary dancing is not to be missed at the end of Act 1.
Area schoolchildren are invited to attend two educational shows along with their teachers and classmates at 10 a.m. Dec. 6 and 7. Public performances are on 7:30 p.m. Dec. 7; 2 and 7 p.m. Dec. 8 and 2 p.m. Dec. 9.
