Charlotte Christian School
Christ-centered. College preparatory. Educating the whole child.
Knights Lead: Celebrating more than 65 years of excellence in Christian education,
Charlotte Christian is a Christ-centered, college preparatory, independent, non-denominational school, serving students in grades JK-12. We offer a rigorous curriculum that prepares students for institutions of higher learning and life beyond. Character, values and essential life skills are emphasized and modeled by a professional and dedicated faculty. Our student population of 1,100 reflects a geographical, denominational, racial and ethnic diversity.
Knights Explore: At Charlotte Christian we teach to the whole child – mind, body, and spirit. Whether trying a new sport or playing on a state championship team; composing a song in a digital music class or winning a National Gold Key in art; taking a field trip downtown or traveling the world during a J-Term excursion, we seek to allow each student to expand their horizons by offering a wide variety of teams, classes, clubs and activities.
Knights Impact: Charlotte Christian does not simply provide a curriculum which contains a Bible class; we teach students to make sense of the world and their place in it by filtering their learning through God’s Word. Annual retreats, weekly chapels, and special spiritual emphasis days are planned each year for students as a time for renewal and relationship building. The Knights Service Program teaches students the joy of selflessly serving others in the name of Jesus Christ.

Palisades Episcopal School
Palisades Episcopal School – Joyful Love of Learning!
Palisades Episcopal School (PES) is an accredited, Christ-centered independent day school serving students in Junior Kindergarten – 8th grade on a 10 acre campus in Southwest Mecklenburg County. As a liberal arts, neo-classical institution, PES offers students opportunities for integrated study by seamlessly weaving together scientific, cultural, historical, and literary investigations. With mastery of skills as the goal, rather than just memorization of facts, a PES student is provided time to think, discuss, process and apply their knowledge, which in turn promotes intellectual curiosity and creates lifelong learners. Intimate class sizes and low teacher-student ratios, allow for differentiated instruction across every grade. Service integration helps students develop citizenship skills and fosters values of integrity, courage, responsibility, compassion, and hard work. PES students graduate knowing how to connect their heads to their hearts and are academically prepared for high school and beyond.

The Oaks
At The Oaks we are pioneering a new model of school for a new generation of students. The founders (Dowd, Erin, and Heidi discovered a shared passion for a new educational model that would teach kids the way they were designed to learn. Out of that passion, The Oaks was established. Learning is an all-in process at The Oaks; our model builds active learners and thinkers, and through our use of readiness rooms, ensures our students are prepared to learn both physically and emotionally. We employ occupational therapists and research-based activities to ensure all students are cognitively organized, physically calm, and socially engaged each period of every day. We use technology sparingly in our classrooms, and we have capped our class sizes at eight students. Our curriculum is project-based, and every learning environment is set up for movement, physical engagement with the lesson, and collaboration among peers and with faculty. Curriculum at The Oaks is designed to refine students’ problem solving and creative skills to develop complex and critical thinking skills.
In addition to our unique educational approach, a foundational belief of The Oaks is that all men and women are created with unique qualities and talents that we can and should identify and develop. As such, our model is structured to ensure the season of childhood is celebrated and not rushed, so that gifts and talents may be cultivated. To that end, our thoughtfully crafted lessons engage a child’s God-given senses of curiosity and inquiry in developmentally and individually appropriate ways.
