It’s Christmas Eve, Smarties, and the fun will really begin tonight while putting the little {and big} ones to bed. For years now, the last thing Smarty kids do before bedtime is sprinkle reindeer food all across the lawn. It’s their last dose of Christmas to-do’s and they do this up, along with the cookies for Santa. Sprinkled on the lawn on Christmas Eve, magic reindeer food leaves a sparkling path for Rudolph and all of his friends. And the kids love it!
How do you make reindeer food? Here is the recipe from our friends at Southern Living (and a Smarty favorite!):
Eco-friendly Magic Reindeer Food:
Sprinkle on the lawn at night
The moon will make it sparkle bright
As Santa’s reindeer fly and roam
This will help guide them to your home!
2 cups regular oats
2 cups sunflower tropical birdseed mix (if you don’t have this, just omit and it will be just fine:-)
2 T red decorator sugar crystals
2 T green decorator sugar crystals
Note: Avoid glitter since it can harm other animals who may ingest along the way:-)
This recipe makes four cups, perfect for a large group! Merry, merry! Love, CSP
