Discovery Place has a fun Spring Break line-up scheduled next week for all of you Smarties doing a stay-cation here in the QC. Called the “Spring Break Shake Up” kids will learn ways they can shake up their daily lifestyles with healthier choices – from learning how to protect their skin from the sun’s UV rays to flexing their brain muscles with a new skill. Starting Friday, March 25 through Saturday, April 2, a different activity will take place every day between noon and 2:00 p.m. Check out this great list of activities!

Friday, March 25: Sew Much Fun – Did you know that reading helps keep your brain active and healthy? Join Priscilla Davis of Sew Fun Parties to sew your own bookmark. Then put it to use at home by cracking open a good book (noon – 2:00 p.m.)
Saturday, March 26: Hats off to Summer- A hat is a vital component to your spring wardrobe to protect you against harmful sun rays. Design your own hat or visor using paint and markers to create your own fashion statement this season (noon – 2:00 p.m.)

Monday, March 28: Solar Pyrography- Join solar artist Brian MacDonald to harness the power of our nearest star to create dazzling designs. Combining optics and heat, we’ll see our visions burn their way into the wood (noon – 2:00 p.m. – weather permitting)

Wednesday, March 30: Sunscreen- Do you know how sunscreen works? Why is it so important? American Cancer Society will provide information on how we can defend ourselves from the sun’s harmful rays using sunscreen. Make a special UV bracelet and enter to win a science gift pack in the Mr. Shield coloring contest (noon – 2:00 p.m.)
Thursday, March 31: Family Fitness – Get your heart pumping with the Greater Charlotte YMCA! Learn how your neighborhood YMCA is helping families workout, eat smart and create life balance. Then hop over to the Stage for a family fitness demo (noon – 2:00 p.m.)
Friday, April 1: Bicycles as Transportation- Riding your bike is a great way to get your heart pumping, but did you know your bicycle can also be a source of transportation? Join Jordan Moore with Sustain Charlotte to explore bike safety and how riding your bike is a healthy alternative for transportation (noon at the Stage)
Saturday, April 2: Dr. Know – This nutty doctor is here to check your funny bones and bellybuttons to see if they are in good working order! Find out what four things you need to do every day to keep your body strong, smart and healthy in this silly and interactive Stage show (noon & 1:00 p.m. at the Stage)

See the body throughout the human life cycle and across the arc of aging. Admission to BODY WORLDS & The Cycle of Life is $24 for adults (14-59); $20 for children (2-13); $22 for seniors (60+) and students with ID, plus applicable sales tax. Children younger than 2 are free. All tickets are for timed entry and include full-day admission to Discovery Place. Discounts are available for Discovery Place Members, Military personnel with ID and for groups of 15 or more. IMAX tickets may be added for an additional $5. Children age 13 and younger must be accompanied by a responsible adult while in Discovery Place.
