Strawberry picking is one of my all-time favorite things to do in Charlotte! The weather is perfect, the strawberries are delicious and the social media posts are priceless (HA). But where is the perfect place to go? I did a little polling with some of my friends, combined with a little online digging and got the scoop on some of the best strawberry patches in the region!
Hall Family Farm
This South Charlotte staple is one of our go-to activities every spring! We not only love the strawberries but also have a ball playing on the other free outdoor activities including a maze, sandbox, giant slide from a firetruck, and the new climbing logs (just added this year). They also have a fun hayride for a small charge. You can splurge on delicious strawberry slushies, popcorn and funnel cakes. I find it helpful to check their Facebook page for daily updates on their strawberry availability.
Carrigan Farms
This a fun family place located in Mooresville and definitely worth the drive if you are in the South Charlotte region. This farm is unique because they also have other fruits and vegetables that you can pick. One of the favorites for the spring season is asparagus. One complaint we’ve heard is that the strawberry picking is right off a busy road and maybe not quite as “romantic.” However, this doesn’t apply to pumpkin picking in the fall. The kids love their petting zoo, hayride and playground as well. They are known for their beautiful lake, which is gorgeous to sit by for a picnic. This is one we are definitely trying out this year!
Wise Acres Organic
One of the only USDA Certified Organic farms in the area, Wise Acres Organic is gaining popularity this year! Located in Indian Trail, NC this farm has a lot to offer for the whole family. Along with an abundance of strawberries the farm offers a recycled tire playground, swings, ziplines, hayrides, slushies, chickens, rabbits and more! You can find a lot of helpful information on their Facebook page as well. A favorite of many, many friends!
Springs Farm
Located in Fort Mill this hidden gem has a great selection each year and even offers DELICIOUS homemade peach and strawberry ice cream! I once drove all the way to Fort Mill from Uptown just to get the ice cream. Truly. They’ve been growing strawberries since 1938 and are a good ol traditional farm. I also hear rave reviews about their CSA program, which you can sign up for on your visit. You can also sign up for farm tours and field trips on their website!
South Carolina Strawberry Festival
Although the Strawberry festival has come and gone this year, it is definitely a must for next year. Delicious strawberries for the whole family, entertainment, horse races, pagents, golf tournament, car shows and more! It is one of the most popular family events of the year.
Linebergers Maple Springs Farm
This is another hidden gem, located in Denver, NC. The great thing about this farm is that they offer a wide variety of fruits and veggies including blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, melons, peaches and the works! Kids can enjoy the usual strawberries, hayrides and a fun shop with healthy snacks. A more unique farm that may not be as packed as some of the other usual suspects!
