As we enter the full blown 2K15 camp season, we have yet another camp giveaway for one lucky Smarty 3rd-8th grader! Our friends at CPCC’s Summer STEM Experience are giving away a week of GameTech Designers Camp, valued at $195!
If your child is obsessed with Minecraft, but also has an itch to design his (or her!) own characters and buildings for his games, then we have the perfect camp for you! In CPCC’s GameTech Designers Camp, your child will learn the basics of creating 3D models using a new software to design his very own objects, create skins for characters and import them into his favorite Minecraft games. To access projects at home, campers must own a PC/MAC version of Minecraft. Tablet, phone, and game console versions of Minecraft are not compatible. Parent email addresses are required to use 3D modeling software.
HOW COOL IS THIS?!

This is right up my rising 4th graders alley!! Jack would love this!!!
My 4th grader is obsessed with all aspects of the Minecraft world. This has led him to want to learn coding. This camp would be PERFECT for him!!
Is this for boys only?
I have told my 9 yo son about 13 camp ideas & this is the first one he was really excited about! Pretty please
My kiddo loves Minecraft!
Oh my goodness! This would be amazing for our son!
These camps are not just for boys. Girls are interested in minecraft and techie stuff as well. My daughter takes classes led by makers from Hackerspace Charlotte and an engineering class for middle school girls by Young Engineers of Today that meets at imaginon. She has been chosen to represent her county at the 4H Electric Congress this summer. We took our Duke Tip enrolled students to a forensic lab tour at CPCC last month where the instructor invited the students to these camps and there were more girls present than boys. I think it’s important to remind girls that they have equal access to these interests and fields.
My rising third grader loves Minecraft and currently wants to design video games when he grows up
this would be the ultimate for my son!!!
My minecraft-obsessed son would love to attend this game tech designers camp! He enjoys learning about different programming languages and making mods in minecraft.
My son, like every other boy out there, is a Minecraft devotee. Sounds like this camp could help him use his powers for good (learning coding!) instead of evil (mindless screen addiction). Wonderful idea for summer!
If I would let them, my kids would play minecraft all day!!!
Wow, my son and daughter love minecraft! It would be a toss up who to send!
Per my girl: I’m a really big Minecraft fan & I want to learn how to build Minecraft buildings, learn how to defeat spiders & make friends. 😉
