You want to run 5ks. You really do! But they are so early in the morning and your main form of exercise this summer has been lifting that Corona up to your lips while watching the latest sports team on television. I hear ya. Lucky for you, a race has been created this weekend that can accomplish all of your favorite things about summer all in one place.
On Saturday, June 14th the Charlotte Hounds (our awesome pro-lacrosse team) is partnering with the Woody and Wilcox show from 106.5 The End, NoDa Brewing Company and UBER to bring you their first ever ZERO K. Your $25 registration fee entitles you to a ZERO K t-shirt to wear for bragging rights, two drink vouchers from NoDa Brewing Company, live music, food, a $20 UBER voucher for first time users and a lower-level reserved seat to cheer on our local Charlotte Hounds as they play the Florida Launch. Best part of all of this? Net proceeds from the event will benefit the Isabella Santos Foundation that raises money for Neuroblastoma research. Score.
The Charlotte community loves their hometown teams, and the Hounds are no different. Lacrosse is one the largest up and coming sports in our area. Kids can start picking up a stick at age 5 these days and the craze is catching on. If you haven’t taken the family to a Hounds game yet, you are missing out. The kids love the fast-paced action and there is so much to do during the games. It is a new and exciting adventure that all families should check out.
Not into Lacrosse? That’s just silly. But to those rare individuals, we will make you immediate fans after just one game – come out for the rest of the fun. You have to be aware of all the NoDa Brewing Company beers that are lining your grocery store shelves right now. Cavu, Jam Session, and my personal favorite Hop Drop N’ Roll (a 2014 World Beer Award Winner) are all made here locally up in NoDa and will be on tap for you that night. They also have another awesome brew called the Woody and Wilcox IPA that will knock your socks off. Yum. This was brewed in honor of our favorite local morning show guys who will be on hand to toast with you as well.
Want to make a night of it? UBER will get you home with ease at the end of the night. UBER is the new hip transportation service that’s taking Charlotte by storm. They will be on hand to show you how a little app on your phone can locate a ride home that is the CHEAPEST in town. You will be hooked, permanently.
Of course the Isabella Santos Foundation team will be there as well to let you know a little bit about what they are trying to do this year to find a cure with their #milliondollarmission and try to convince you to come out and support their family friendly 5k/10k and 1 mile fun run on September 20th. It has become one of the largest races in Charlotte so mark your calendar now! J
The pre-race registration celebration begins at 4:30 p.m. at the American Legion Memorial Stadium located at 310 N. Kings Drive. The less than strenuous 0.0K will start (and end) at 5:30 leaving you plenty of time to relax with music, food and beer until the Charlotte Hounds game begins promptly at 7:00 p.m.
