With summer behind us and the school year kicking into high gear, I’ve noticed that I need to take some time to fine tune my parenting skills. I have one year of parenting a middle school tweenage daughter under my belt, gulp. And another daughter lining up right behind her, double gulp. This reminded me all over again about how challenging it is to build confident, resilient girls.
That is why I was so thrilled to learn about Camp Highlander’s upcoming Mother-Daughter weekend, September 27-29. This fun-filled weekend will be a wonderful opportunity for mothers and daughters to connect and to invest in their relationship. Every daughter needs her mother to listen and to share. This weekend does just that, and gives you some adventure along the way.
At Camp Highlander’s Mother-Daughter Weekend, you and your daughter (or daughters!) will enjoy fun activities like painting, jewelry-making, yoga, riflery and cooking. Grow closer as you challenge yourselves on the ropes course, zip line and climbing wall. A professional in parent-child relationships will give a talk, and there will be a special Mother-Daughter dinner for dressing up.
And what a setting! You’ll remember that Camp Highlander donated a full week of Junior Camp (K-4th grade) this past summer to a lucky Smarty! Camp Highlander is nestled in the North Carolina mountains, just south of Asheville, on 240 acres of land, with beautiful cabins, a post and beam rec building, stables, a lake and so much more! The fall is the most gorgeous time of year imaginable for this event, and Camp Highlander has experience making this weekend a memorable one for mothers and daughters.
