Smarties, we have a huge favor to ask of you and it will just take a minute or so of your time. As many of you may be aware, facebook changes their rules almost daily. Recently, facebook made changes to their algorithm that has made our page’s content almost a nonexistent part of our fans’ daily facebook timeline.
When you click “like” on our page, you may think that means your timeline will get all of our super important updates from Charlotte Smarty Pants. It definitely used to. But facebook changed the rules and is now 100% controlling what you see on your newsfeed.
Now, when you click “like” on a post, this means that this post will appear on your newsfeed only, for all of your friends to see if they are on facebook at that very moment. This is fine for posts that you don’t feel like leaving on your wall but you feel inspired to share with your friends on the facebook feed feature. If you REALLY love a blog post and want to share on your wall, you take it a small step further. Click “like”, then you can tag your friends via the @ symbol like I did here with my Smarty bud, Susan:
There is another really, really important thing for you to know with your favorite business pages that you’ve liked over the years. More than likely, the daily updates of most business/product pages that you have previously liked are now hidden. facebook changed the default to hide the business pages unless you manually go into your settings and authorize the business updates to appear in your facebook feed. This used to be automatic when you liked a page. Not the case anymore. So how do you fix that? It’s easy peezy and you should do this for all of your favorite businesses. You just need to log onto your facebook, then find us at facebook.com/charlottesmartypants. Hopefully you have already liked us by now. If not, click like. Then hover over the “Liked” button until you see “Get Notifications” and “Show in News Feed” and make sure they are checked as shown below.
And voila, you’re done!
