Smarties, don’t let the title “Scarowinds” scare you away from Carowinds if you have little ones. They have something for everyone of all ages in this fun-packed theme park right in our backyard. Last weekend, I took our fam to Carowind’s Howl-O-Fest’s Boo Blast and the kids had just that.
Howl-O-Fest’s Boo Blast is a way for kids to show off their cute costumes and celebrate the fun of Halloween without the scary. It brings Halloween themed shows, attractions, and hands-on activities to the plaza just outside the Carowind’s Paladium Ampitheatre every Saturday and Sunday in October. Costumes encouraged! Add this Halloween fun to the 12 acres of rides and attractions in Planet Snoopy and you’ll have some serious happy campers!
Howl-O-Fest’s Boo Blast activities are included with the price of daytime admission to Carowinds. The park is open from 10a-5:30p, the Boo Blast party runs from 12-5p. It offers an excellent value for families looking to enjoy some extra Halloween fun, along with everything Carowinds has to offer.
Smarty Tip: Families can save even more when they participate in the Coca-Cola Promotion. Bring in any Coca-Cola product, used or unused, and get $20 off the price of daytime admission.
The Smarty Scoop on Howl-O-Fest’s Boo Blast
PEANUTS Dance Party Show – Sing and dance with Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the rest of the PEANUTS gang as they get ready for Halloween!
Hay Bale Maze – Little ones will have a blast weaving their way through a fun path of hay bales and cornstalks, figuring their way out of dead ends, and conquering the maze.
Foam Zone – Nothing spooky here! The zone of suds offers good clean sensory fun.
Fraidy Cat Puppet Show – Meet the Boo Blast mascot, Fraidy Cat, in a daily puppet show that is sure to delight.
“Kiddie”-oke – Every child is a superstar when they show off their singing skills with Halloween karaoke.
Mumpkin Patch – An arts & crafts station where kids can choose their own mini-pumpkin (mumpkin) to decorate and take home to remember their spooktacular day.
Peter the Talking Pumpkin – The keeper of the pumpkin patch chats with visiting ghosts and goblins throughout the day.
Trick-or-Treating – Kids can trick-or-treat at various stations in the Boo Blast area from 2-4p each day!
After having our Halloween fun at Boo Blast, my thrill-seekers quickly transitioned to the rides. They were elated when they learned that all four were 48″ – this opened up some serious doors to roller coasters that even mom was scared to go on! Peep this ride – 48″ clubbers only!
When planning your visit, make sure you download the Carowinds app from your SmartyPhone – this MADE OUR VISIT! I could whip it out and find a restroom “around me” or a thrill ride “around me” or dining “around me.” Let me tell ya, this saved hours!
Stay tuned next week when I give you the scoop on what age is doable for Scarowinds – heading there tomorrow, wish me luck!
