My favorite summer style this year is anything and everything by fab designer, Elizabeth McKay. My story goes like this. My big sis was here in May and we found the most incredible alligator outfit at our favorite local boutique, Cottage Chic. We bought her the alligator outfit (in the Hayden shorts, not pants), but I had some rules attached to when I got mine (we often buy twinsies, it’s a good thing she lives in FL and I live in Charlotte:-).
I’ve been on a workout/lifestyle change/complete Jen reinvention over the last two months and I vowed not to spend a dime on any clothing until I reached my goal. This alligator outfit would be my treat and something to look forward to. Fast forward to two weeks ago, almost exactly at my goal and I got an email from my friends at Elizabeth McKay, addressed to “Jen Bunich” and I almost fell out of my chair. It was as if it was a little treat from Jen in heaven, saying “here ya go sister, you deserve it!”
What I love about Elizabeth McKay is the big bold prints and fun, sassy style that she adds to even the basic outfits. The alligator print caught my eye first, clearly my Florida Gator roots kicked into high gear when I discovered it.
The tunics are to die for – the piping and stitch work is amazing.
My other favorite print is this pink elephant print – check it out in this fab Scotland dress I’m wearing on my Florida vacay. I can’t tell you how many compliments I got on this dress all night long! I’m no fashion model, but you get the idea ~ It’s the perfect outfit to wear anywhere, you’ll feel like a princess with all of the ruffles!
The Elizabeth ruffle blouse is gorgeous in any pattern, the ruffles will dress up any pair of shorts or pants and you can easily transition from day to dinner in a skinny minute. Pair with shorts and you’ll be the fashionista at any backyard barbeque or with slacks and you can head to your favorite dinner spot.
The best part about Elizabeth McKay in my opinion is that they are timeless, classic pieces that are made with amazing detail – piping, lining, yummy fabrics that you know will last forever. To me, that’s worth every penny!
You can find Elizabeth McKay locally at Cottage Chic (can’t shout out enough to that store that I secretly wish I owned:-), Monkee’s of Morrocroft (equally fabulous!) and Paul Simon Women. Or shop Elizabeth McKay online at:
