Smarty Mom: Rebecca Plaisance

This past summer, I had this crazy idea about a big car campaign and all I kept thinking about was MAJOR PINK. Hmmm, I wonder why?! But something inside was telling me that I should partner with another platform to make it more fun, but I just wasn’t sure. Until I met Rebecca Plaisance with South Charlotte Macaroni Kid. It was like two sisters colliding, I knew it was the perfect match. And that’s when the Smarty & Macaroni cars were born.

Let me just tell you we have had SOOOO much fun driving these cars all over Charlotte and just could not foresee the amazing support we have received. Kids love the whimsical patterns on the cars, moms love that you can spot us from a mile away and dads love us too for our entrepreneurial spirit. So we’re hoping these cars will stick around for a while. Hint, hint – Bob Mayberry Hyundai – we LOVE you! Seriously Smarties, Bob Mayberry Hyundai is the bomb.com – who would have known that these cars rock the house so much, tricked out with every feature you can imagine and a price tag you can afford. What’s it like driving the other twin brightest car in Charlotte?

Super fun! I do feel like I am a traffic hazard some days, people slow down to check it out, honk and wave. I love the look on little kids’ faces when they see and point at the pink flowered car! It has really been one of the best campaigns I have been involved in!

What is your favorite thing about running your Macaroni Kid site?

Freedom and flexibility! I feel so lucky to have a job that affords me a great quality of life. I am there for my kids whenever they need me, I can be at school, run carpool and go on field trips without missing a beat. It really is amazing to be able to make a great living and it not impact your time with your kids.

Favorite winter activity with kids?

Making snow cream (the one day it actually snows here)

Favorite birthday party?

The best parties we have had for our kids are right in our backyard with lots of friends and their kids running around playing. Low key and tons of fun!

Birthday party go-to gift?

Anything from someplace that gift wraps for me~lol~We love to give books (former teacher in me)

Who is your celebrity crush?

Robert Plant (the 1976 version)~and if you’re old enough to know who that is you know you’re old, lol!

Best book you’ve read lately?

I just read Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. It has been a long time since I read a book to be honest, most nights I am working on the site so I can play with my kids the next day.

Favorite movie of all time?

Comedy~Mean Girls~Hands down! I never get tired of watching it and I always laugh! Drama~Heathers (I’m sensing a theme here)

Minivan or SUV?

I have always been a minivan girl but this Hyundai Veracruz may change my mind!

Favorite phone app?

That’s like picking my favorite child! I love My Fitness Pal~great for accountability and I love to see the extra calories I get after I’m at the gym. I also love Pinterest~my latest addiction!

Favorite CSP article?

I really love the Smarty Mom profiles, I think it is so empowering to highlight women in our community who are making a difference is so many different ways.

Wine~just kidding, my husband. He is truly the most calming force in my life. He is always brutally honest even when I don’t want to hear it, calls me out if I am behaving badly and is the biggest cheerleader I have ever had. He truly gives me wings to do and be anything I want to be.
