I’m sure you all remember my big plans for my surprise of a lifetime Taylor Swift concert experience. My original surprise plans fizzled when Taylor got bronchitis back in July and rescheduled her show for last night. Well yesterday I got an email at 3:45p that changed the surprise on a level a little girl could only dream of!
So I dropped my boys off at a party and it was game on, my girls and I had the “Taylor Swift T Party Room Jamz” blaring in the Smarty Car. We were off to pick up our girlfriends and head our way up to Time Warner Cable Arena. But not before mom checked email. Thank, God this Smarty Mama is plugged in 24/7.
The email seemed a bit like a punk’d scheme and I thought perhaps someone read this blog and was punking me. Never in a million years did I think the person reading MY blog would be Andrea Swift, Taylor’s mom, also known as “Mama Swift.”
A phone call, few emails and texts later, I knew I had my surprise game back on and bigger and better than ever! When all the girls arrived at the pre-party festivities, we told them that Mama Swift had invited them down to the floor for the “Stage B Experience”. We had no idea what this meant, but all I knew is that we had to roll with it and be ready to be taken down to stage at 9p. The girls could not contain their excitement, myself included!
After getting situated in our suite (which btw is the T-I-C-K-E-T for the new concert-viewing experience, we had waiters and a bathroom right there!), I started getting really nervous as my phone charge was almost completely drained from all of my crazy texting about what was transpiring! What if they forget about us or change their minds? Just before 9 I got the text “in the next two songs or so, we’re coming up”. Here we go!
Two moms and 12 girls get escorted down by my new BFF, Gabby, and we are brought to the back of the floor section, gated off. I knew Andrea (T’s mom) was somewhere in there and had to introduce myself. In my starstruck excitement, I knew I had to stay focused and put my CSP marketing hat on? How did TAYLOR SWIFT’S MOM find Charlotte Smarty Pants??? So I immediately told her how proud she must be every single day of her amazing and gifted daughter, who looks just like her mama:-), and one thing, how did you find my blog? Her response: “I googled Taylor in Charlotte and found you. And when I read your title ‘Taylor Swift Show. Canceled. Surprise of a Lifetime Ruined.’, I just had to find you all.” I melted and forever bonded with Mama Swift. She told me that she and Taylor had worked out something special for our girls. It’s coming soon.
A few songs later, we hear the crowd on the floor go wild. I knew that meant Taylor was headed our way. We were escorted to our positions and Taylor performed right on top of us. It was the coolest thing I have ever experienced. Here this star of the highest magnitude was right in front of us, our girls could touch her if that was legal. I had my Isabel on my shoulders and we danced the night away. When that ditty was over, Taylor walked right up to my sweet Isabel and Courtenay’s Sarah Chason, hugged them hard and they were simultaneously shown on the JumboTron screen in front of the rest of the 14,500 fans! It was absolutely magical, enchanting, something they will remember for the rest of their lives.
For the rest of the concert, Mama Swift invited us to stay on the floor where we took photos and chatted a little about what it’s like to be that mom. I feel forever connected to the Swift family. I’d like to thank Mama Swift for reaching out to little ‘ole Charlotte Smarty Pants, mom to mom. I can’t tell you how proud I am of you as a mom, job well done, my friend. And to Taylor’s management company for the experience of a lifetime. But I’d like to most importantly thank Taylor, for being you. For being the most gifted artist who keeps it real and allows mothers and daughters all around the world to enjoy beautiful music together. You are truly enchanting. P.S. As much as I love John Mayer’s tunes, I knew from the start you were WAY above him and wanted to high-5 you when “Dear John” came out. I chuckle every time I hear it:-)
Charlotte Smarty Pants {hearts} Taylor Swift! We can’t wait for you to come back to our fabulous city!

WHAT?!?!?! Talk about a super surprise…talk about super fun! Love the plym-swift bonding, love the front-row access, love the taylor hugs (all on the jumbotron!). Talk about a fairytale! Who is Randy cooking up for the boys to meet?!
So glad that the surprise got ruined back in July! What a story! Once in a lifetime and only to Jen Plym!
See, everything happens for a reason, I know how disappointed you were this summer when things fell through, but it sounds like this was a hundred times better than if you had gone this summer! So fun!
Jen, I cannot believe you pulled this off… actually, I can totally believe it. What a dream. I love her too. What an awesome experience for you all.
Miss you girl. xox
Jen – So happy for you and all the girls…you are an AWESOME mom and they are so glad to have you. Without you, this would never have happened either. Taylor Swift and her mom are a class act!
Jen That is AWESOME! What great memories for all of you! amazing
Jen!!!! We saw you and I didn’t know it was you!!! We were in the Wells Fargo box and I saw you daughter on your shoulders dancing and Camden was asking me about all the girls down there when “Taylor was singing on the circling Christmas tree.” Makes me super-duper happy it was you and your crew!! When Taylor floated by us on her balcony and smilled/waved at my girls – they about died. I can only imagine what you experienced!!! AWESOME show – she’s the bomb!
Wow, as an emotional prego, this gave me chills & almost tears, lol. What an amazing experience for you and the girls, one that you will never forget! And major props to the Swift family for showing nothing but true class! And yes, social media rocks!
