Well, Smarties, we did it! The first ever flash mob here in the Queen City! I guess technically it wasn’t a “flash mob”, more like a mob – but powerful nonetheless. Last night at the Nordstrom piano, over 200 chorus members sang the most beautiful live version of Hallelujah I have ever heard! Enjoy, Smarty Charlotte! Merry, merry!
P.S. Please excuse my rookie video skills. My new Flip is a little punchy:-)

I totally just cried through this. Thank you for lifting His name high in a place that so often doesn't seem to know the Creator of the Heavens and the Earth.
That was soooo awesome! I love people stopping to listen to music praising Him in the midst of a typical busy Christmas season! How do these things get planned? Did you know about it in advance?!
I did hear about it yesterday, put it up on CSP for about 15 minutes and then was asked to take it down. However, I did send a facebook email blast in those 15 minutes, so some Smarties were fully in the know! So sign up to both our group and fan page moving forward. That's the quickest, most discreet way to get info out:-) CSP facebook group page (this is important b/c I can actually send you an email still): http://www.facebook.com/reqs.php#!/group.php?gid=13403898191CSP facebook fan page: http://www.facebook.com/reqs.php#!/pages/Charlotte-Smarty-Pants/54346762077So it is my understanding that this flash mob has been in the works for a month or so. The higher-ups at Nordstrom, the Charlotte Symphony, and several local and talented choirs all worked hard together to make this happen. Merry Christmas! -Jen
Absolutely beautiful, thank you so much for sharing!
I was there and just loved it, though some friends who were supposed to be in it were bummed that it wasn't the "spontaneous singing as you shop" it was supposed to be since so many knew about it in advance. They actually had different departments they were assigned to, etc., but that all sort of went out the window since you couldn't move. More of a mob than a real flash mob like the ones you see on you tube in food courts. But all those voices praising God in the middle of a Nordstrom's was AMAZING.
Glorious! What a beautiful gathering. Thank you so much for sharing!!!
In my typical fashion, it ended 2 minutes before we arrived. 🙁 Wasn't anticipating the traffic on Fairview. But thank you so much for the heads up. Watching the video made me misty. So wonderful to realize there really are a lot of us who remember the true reason for the season. God bless those who took time out of their own busy schedules to sing for us and sing God's praises. And thank you, CSP, for the insider's scoop! Incidentally, the night wasn't a complete bust for us. I dressed my children in their Christmas outfits and we went to see SouthPark's Santa. He's so gorgeous! My 8-year-old daughter exclaimed, "He looks like the real Santa!" Merry Christmas to you!
I was under the impression these are supposed to be more of a surprise not so planned for everyone to know before. the one in the mall was more of a true flash mob
We were there, on the other side closer to the exit to the mall so as to make a quick exit with two little ones. Pretty neat, despite the fact that it was not much of a "surprise" but more of a mob scene with a bunch of people who could sing and enjoyed doing so. Neat, neat, neat, thing to be apart of and bring the kids to!! Next time a smaller group of singers who are the only ones who know about it, show up and then start singing. The surprise was over when the crowd started singing before 6:30. Oh well, thanks to whoever organized it all and hooray to all those who sung and pulled it off!! What a joy to hear in public!
