We have another Smarty baby to add to our team! Tracy gave birth to a healthy and beautiful baby girl last week. We are so excited that she is here and Tracy and her family are happily adjusting at home. Here is a note from Tracy:
We didn’t know what we were having, so the day of delivery was filled with anticipation to finally find out if we were going to be adding a new baby brother or sister to our family. Although my gut told me all along it was a girl, it was still a bit of a shock to hear those words come out of Matt’s mouth! I remember laying there on the hospital bed as a flood of emotions swam over me … a GIRL! The minute I held her and looked into her eyes, I was in love. Then they whisked her away to be cleaned and weighed (while I still endured all that other post-labor fun stuff) and all I could think was “Holy cow! We have a girl!” For 4 years, all I had known was being a mom to a boy.
In the short week Ryanne has been home with us, we’ve quickly learned some of the differences in baby girls vs. baby boys. The big one is the diaper change! Boys – you have a diaper rag handy for “spouts” and make sure you “point it down” in the diaper. Girls – you have to wipe from front to back and be sure to have a spare diaper UNDER her when you take the other away. This may seem obvious to most, but we actually had to have our baby nurse give us a lesson in diaper changing for a girl! The other big difference was shopping for PINK! And the clothes are so different (obvious again, but remember, 4 years of BOY and now all of the sudden we are in a whole different section of the store). I’m sure there are many, many other things we will experience in the weeks and years to come and I can’t wait to savor each and every one.

Congratulations to Tracy, Matt and Big Brother, Jake:-) Please feel free to add any Smarty tips you have for a new mommy of a little girl. My advice to Tracy is to start saving now because you won’t be able to hold back from all of the precious girly clothes! My girls are dressed WAY better than I am!

Tracy! How exciting for you! I have two boys, then a girl! And, let me tell you, it’s a whole new world and one you will be thrilled to be a part of! Enjoy every little difference between your son and daughter! It will actually make you appreciate the very “boy” thinks your son does even more! Hugs! Jessica W.
She is beautiful! There ARE so many cute girl clothes to pick from. Its hard to resist! I can’t wait to see her again. You’ll have to write and let us know how her big brother is adjusting.
Congrats Tracy, Matt and Jake!I’m so excited to hear you have a beautiful baby girl – and I have heard that she is breathtaking! We need to catch up soon. If you need any clothes, let me know – I just cleaned out our 0-9 month stuff so I have bags full! I’ll try to get your home email to send you a note.
Congratulations Tracy and family! It is so wonderful that you now will have a little girl who will always be protected by her big bro!One of the best things about little girls is shopping for them-my favorite store is Magic Windows in Philips Place. They have the best clothes in town! Best wishes!
