The BEST race in town (in my humble opinion), the Isabella Santos Annual 5k/10k for Kids Cancer, is coming up next Saturday, September 24. If you haven’t registered yet, now is the time. This is a super fun family event that raises money for pediatric cancer research and local children’s charities. Full disclosure: ISF is near and dear to the heart of every Smarty on our team – Isabella’s mom is one of our Smarty mamas (if you’re not familiar with Erin’s story, check out her Smarty Mom interview from a couple years ago).
This year’s theme, Cancer Messed with the Wrong City, is PERFECT for this race – just take a glimpse at the dedicated volunteer team that puts on this race. I bet you know someone involved with it – that’s what I love most about this race. It is literally put on by our fellow moms, dads, friends, PTO members, workout buddies, neighbors, and co-workers who all work toward one goal: ending childhood cancer.
Even if you’re not a runner, register. Trust me, THIS is the race for any and all – elite runners, joggers, and couch potatoes. There’s a place for everyone. The energy, enthusiasm, and love is absolutely contagious all morning at Ballantyne Corporate Park. In the last 8 years the Isabella Santos Foundation 5K for Kids Cancer and 1 Mile Fun Run has raised over $1,000,000 for Neuroblastoma research and local charities near and dear to our hearts. Check out what went on last year:
Let’s make it the biggest year yet. Let’s help ISF surpass their goal of $800,000.
Make sure to arrive early and stick around all morning. Energy at this race is like nothing you’ve ever seen. After the race there’s a Kids Zone for kids of all ages including trampolines, a rock climbing wall, inflatables, a photo booth, games, facepainting, art, and so much more. Plus, there’s a raffle and silent auction (rumor has it there are beauty/spa packages, sporting events, date night outs, vacations, jewelry and more). And, of course, tons of food and refreshments will be served (because what else is there to do after a race than eat and drink?!).
If you’ve got a Saturday morning full of sports and can’t make the race, consider being a Phantom Runner. Just click here and select “Phantom Runner” instead of 5k. Easy. You can also contribute here to Isabella’s Dream Team.
Support and donations from the race allow the Isabella Santos Foundation to support Neuroblastoma research and organizations such as The Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte, The Make-A-Wish Foundation, and Levine Children’s Hospital. The Foundation also assists struggling families in the Charlotte community affected by childhood cancer.
See you at the race!!
