Recently a friend told me I just HAD to try Pure Barre (the new insane workout spreading in popularity all over Charlotte). Please, I thought! I workout hard. I run. I lift. Why try something new?
Answer. Because, this total body workout lifts my seat, tones my thighs and burns fat in record-breaking time. Because, while I’m in a Pure Barre class one hour slips by so fast I don’t even realize I am working out. Because, I’m flexible again. Because I’m being challenged in a way I never dreamed possible. Because I’m 100% purely addicted.
So what is Pure Barre? It’s intelligent exercise. The Pure Barre classroom is simple and looks a lot like a ballet studio. A single ballet bar covers the entire perimeter of the room and very light weights (2 and 3 pounds), a band, and a ball are the only strength training equipment needed. Each section of the 55 minute workout is followed by a stretching section to create long, lean muscle without bulk. Think of a ballerina’s body, full of grace and lean muscle. While I’m nowhere near nabbing the starring role in ‘The Nutcracker’ this winter, I do see hope. I’m finding muscles I didn’t know still existed in my body post three intense pregnancies. I’m starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel and it looks lean.
Workout and body benefits aside, Pure Barre has given me a clear mind. The workout requires such focus that you literally block “life” out allowing the mental benefits achieved in yoga or meditation. A transformed body and a clear head in just one hour is a gift any mommy would beg for. Oh, and do I ever! I do everything I can to find the free time to step foot into the Pure Barre studio! Finally, an intelligent way to tone my tail!
