A couple people had told me about the Belly Band (they didn’t have them when I was pregnant the first time) and I thought I would try it out. The Belly Band, otherwise known as a “Bella Band” fromDoulaShop or Ingrid & Isabel, “Tummy Tube” (Mimi Maternity), or “Tummy Sash” (Pea in the Pod) is essentially a nylon/spandex tube top for your belly. This has to be one of the best maternity-wear inventions ever! Here are the top 10 reasons why I love the Belly Band:
In early pregnancy, when you can still somewhat fit in your regular pants but need something to keep them up; a belt is the last thing you want to put on! The Belly Band gives the support and expandability you need without digging into your bloated waistline. Also early on, the Belly Band helps smooth out the “mushroom” that starts to pop out over the top of your pants. When you’re ready to start unbuttoning your regular pants, no more need for rubber band and safety pin contraptions!
This 8-inch tube of fabric has been an absolute life-saver for me – At 6 months, I’ve still been able to wear several of my pre-pregnancy pants and feel great in them. It has helped flatten out the bulges, wrinkles and elastic waistbands in my maternity pants and smooth over my personal bulges and “pops” under more form fitting tops. And I am definitely looking forward to having these on hand after the baby is born to help transition back into my regular wardrobe!
Locally, I have seen the Belly Band at Belly Elan at the Promenade on Providence. I hope you found this helpful – please pass on to all your super savvy pregnant friends! Do you have any other great tips on looking and feeling great during pregnancy?
