Charlotte, NC 28215

Located in the Plaza Midwood neighborhood, Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic School (part of the Mecklenburg Area Catholic Schools (MACS) system) was founded in 1948 and has continued since that time to offer a quality education in the Catholic tradition to Charlotte area students. Today OLA offers an outstanding educational experience to students in Pre-Kindergarten through the 8th grade. In addition, starting in the 2014-2015 school year OLA will offer “Providing an Academically Appropriate Catholic Education Program (PACE)” a self-contained program for students with average to above average cognitive ability and a diagnosed specific learning disability. It is designed to serve students who are struggling significantly in the areas of reading and writing. Students in this program receive instruction in the Orton-Gillingham method. The goal of this program is to remediate reading and writing weaknesses so that students can return to the general education class. OLA offers an education that doesn’t simply attempt to fulfill the academic needs of each student, but is committed to building each of the students spiritually, morally, and academically. A strong academic program is offered for the pre-school, elementary and middle school levels. Technology plays an important role in the school with computers available in all classrooms and laptops available to all middle school students. All this combined with numerous club and activity opportunities as well as a strong athletics program provides a well-rounded school experience.
