Nazareth Child & Family Connection will offer a foster parenting information session Wednesday, August 14 at its office at 165 Mahaley Ave. in Salisbury from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The information meeting, led by Nazareth Director of Foster Care Services Shawn Squirewell, is in advance of the organization’s 10-week foster-parenting classes, which will begin September 11.
The free classes are designed to inform participants about the child welfare system, the role of foster parents and to help individuals develop the skills to become a successful foster/adoptive parent. The classes also focus on understanding trauma and how to better serve families who have experienced trauma. Individuals who complete the classes and the licensing process become licensed North Carolina foster parents.
