Did you know that Sesame Street is an actual address? It’s about 30 minutes outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is roughly a 10 hour drive from Charlotte or a $200 flight. It’s open from April through October and then for A Very Furry Christmas in November and December.
Sesame Street boasts whirling rides, water slides, colorful shows and furry friends. They have 16 fun dry rides and activities such as: Big Bird’s Balloon race, Ernie’s Bed Bounce, Sunny Day Carousel and the Vapor Trail Rollercoaster. Daily shows and parades can be enjoyed by all.There are shows with all your children’s favorite characters and even the Live version of Elmo’s World. Elmo has a live Rock show featuring Zoey, Cookie, Bert and Ernie with lots of sing along fun. The Neighborhood Street Party Parade with 11 larger than life floats doubles as a nighttime lighted parade. Lastly, the water portion of the park for summer is a blast, which includes a wave pool, Count’s Splash Castle, Bert and Ernie Slip and Slide among with a dozen other rides.
We visited right after Thanksgiving this year. My kids loved the park and seeing the Sesame neighborhood they recognize from television. The parades were awesome and of course the endless amounts of souvenirs to purchase were too tempting. But the highlight was dinner with the characters. The buffet offered was nothing to write home about but every character came to the table. They took pictures and hugged each of my children and performed a song or too during the meal. It was quite cold so we were also offered hot chocolate and cider, which was my favorite part of the meal.
It was really a fun experience for a very reasonable price. The tickets were $60 and the dining was $17 for the kids and $26 for Mom. My children really enjoyed the visit and we will go back again the next time we are in the area visiting family. They have events and specials during the year. Check them out at: www.sesameplace.com.
