Got Soccer Camp?

So I was at my all-day Harris Y soccer frenzy on Saturday, with all four of my kids playing in the league. We love it, our kids love it and it’s loads of fun, even though it consumes our whole day every Saturday. While there, I was introduced to the Camp Director, Chris Klotz, of the Charlotte Eagles Soccer Club. I had NO IDEA we had a professional soccer club in Charlotte. In addition, I had no clue that these way cool dudes host kick-booty soccer camps every summer. So I asked Chris to send me his stuff so I can share with Smarty Charlotte!

The Charlotte Eagles Soccer Club has a vision to see lives changed through the world wide movement of sports evangelism. The Eagles have been running Soccer Camps since 1991 in the greater Charlotte Area and all over the world for this very purpose. Soccer is the tool used to build relationships in order to communicate the love of Christ. The Charlotte Eagles are committed to be fully invested in the community and build relationships with each and every camper. It is our desire to use a soccer ball for more than just winning and losing games. The Charlotte Eagles Soccer Camps have been a mainstay throughout its 19 year existence. In these years, the Eagles have reached over 20,000 campers. We remain focused on offering campers high quality instruction in a fun, positive, and Christian environment. All camps are staffed by the Charlotte Eagles Men’s Professional Soccer Team, and Charlotte Lady Eagles Elite Women’s Soccer team. Currently the Eagles run 12 camps for over 1,000 youth in the Charlotte region including day camps and elite camps throughout the summer. Rec Camps are offered half day for ages 5 and 6 (9am-12), and full day for ages 7-14 (9am-3pm). Elite Camps are offered for ages 10-17 and offer either specific Goal Keeper training, 101 moves training, or finishing training. Here are my thoughts on this best-kept secret in Charlotte delio. I’m thinking that the hard core travel soccer teams have been fully in the know on this camp program, which is probably why their kids are so good!! But for the rest of us whose kids just love the sport, but may not be the next David Beckham, this type of camp may be the perfect fit to give our kids some skills from the experts. I’m definitely sending my boys to the Micro camp. They will be thrilled!

Smarty tip: The Charlotte Eagles are hosting a “Meet the Eagles” FREE soccer clinic coming up on Monday, April 18th at the Siskey YMCA from 5-7p. Prizes include a free week of camp and other super cool Eagles prizes.
