Last year, I blogged about the cutest wooden bunny Easter basket that is one of my favorite Charlotte traditions. I debated about whether to put it out there again this year since it has a $54 price tag. Well our Smarty readers made the decision for me. Over the past two weeks, we have received numerous emails asking about these baskets, and we just cannot disappoint. So here goes!
Thanks to my good bud, Sarah Ryan, for filling me in on this Charlotte mommy must-have when my 7-year-old was a baby. These hand-painted baskets are PRESH and my kids so look forward to pulling them out and filling them with eggs and Easter treats. Actually, we love them so much and I consider them a piece of art, so we keep them out in our rooms year-round for maximum enjoyment. We plan on keeping ours forever and they will always remind us of our roots in Charlotte.
So where do you find these baskets? The only place in the country is at the Buttercup in Myers Park located at 343 Providence Road. The ladies at the Buttercup have been selling these beautiful baskets for over 30 years and have really made it a special Easter tradition for Charlotte families. They are locally-made with love by crafted artisans. I spoke with Stewart Gordon, co-owner of the Buttercup, and she reminisced about the early days of these baskets. She gets such joy now when a new mom comes in specifically requesting the basket that she enjoyed as a little girl! It’s not too late – you can order your basket pretty much right up until Easter and it will be guaranteed with a hand-painted name to boot.
