I found a new toystore that just opened at the Cotswold Mall, it is called Toys & Co. It took the space where the old Storehouse Furniture used to be. It’s a nice store, a little like Learning Express in Stonecrest but bigger. There had not been alot of choices for toystores (other than Wal-Mart and Target) in this area of town so it’s a great addition. It has many toys you would not find at the big stores and had a broad array of products – books, toys, educational. A great perk is that they have free giftwrapping (yay!) and UPS shipping available.
I am sure I will be shopping there for Christmas and any other last minute birtday presents
Have you been to Toys & Co? Let us know what you thought!

Toys and Co is a great specialty toy store and even better, locally owned! This company started right out of Greensboro and is slowly growing. Toys and Co offers a lot of educational toys that cannot be found in the larger mass market stores. They have a large selection of Playmobil, Brio, Learning Curve, Melissa and Doug – and the list goes on. If they follow their Greensboro sister store – free gift wrapping for all occasions! Great store to visit!!! We are very excited to see Toys and Co open in Charlotte!!
Great store, some items are a bit pricy. BUT check the labels – most toys are NOT made in China!! That’s a great thing to consider when buying a toy.
Dont forget about Black Forest Books and Toys on Cherokee Rd (Eastover area). They are locally owned (in Charlotte) and have been around for >25 years. GREAT personal service (espec. w/ children’s books, but also w/toys). They sell a lot of the same brands, but of course are not as big. Free giftwrap too. LOVE that store!
Last weekend at my son’s 6th birthday party, 7 of his 13 gifts from party guests came from Toys & Co (we could tell from the wrapping paper), so the store must be doing well! All of the gifts were different, too, so if the staff is helping shoppers select gifts, they are doing a good job. Maybe we could have a blog with suggestions for good gifts for children of each age? I am always looking for ideas for my children for birthday and Christmas and for their friends’ birthdays.
